BTS Annual Congress Student & Early Career Bursaries

Bursaries are awarded to support the participation of students and early career members at the BTS Annual Congress to present an oral or poster communication

A successful applicant will be keen to communicate their work in the field of toxicology

For the 2026 Annual Congress, there will be an additional 2 bursaries supported by the Toxicokinetics Discussion Group (TKDG) to enable the presentation of work involving toxicokinetics. Please use the single application form below to apply for BTS or TKDG bursaries.

Award attributes

Supports student and early career BTS members to attend the BTS Annual Congress

Awarded

Annually on a competitive basis (maximum of 10 bursaries per annum, with priority given to students if more than 10 applications are received)

Support provided

Registration, accommodation, and travel for the Annual Congress in line with BTS Travel Policy

Criteria
  • Membership of BTS (or application for membership received no later than the application for the bursary)
  • Applicant must be a student (e.g. apprenticeship, BSc, MSc, PhD) in toxicology or a related discipline, or within 10 years of their highest degree.
  • Applicants can receive a maximum of 2 bursaries during their career.
  • Presentation of a poster or oral communication at the BTS Annual Congress.
  • Career stage eligibility status must be confirmed by head of department or line manager.
  • Open to all eligible BTS members, independent of age or place of study or employment
  • Submission of a written report on one of the symposia at the BTS Annual Congress for publication on the BTS website.

Process
  • Application submitted
  • Scientific Subcommittee review and select bursary recipients
  • Successful applicants notified by Scientific Subcommittee Chair before the early bird registration deadline for the BTS Annual Congress
