Vacation Scholarships
These awards are designed to encourage students or new graduates to experience working in the field of toxicology. There are two studentships on offer and each studentship will provide up to £1,500 to support the living costs of the student for up to six to eight weeks. The student will gain valuable hands-on research experience and their supervisor will gain an extra pair of hands in the laboratory. Interested students or new graduates must pair up with a potential supervisor to develop a project before applying for funding.
Eligibility – The award is available to students or new graduates (no more than three months after completion of their degree) studying toxicology and/or pharmacology, or where toxicology is a main component of their degree. The research project must have substantial toxicological content.
Support the living costs of a student to gain research experience
Annually (two studentships per year)
Up to £1500 towards living costs
Supervisor must be BTS member for at least 1 year prior to application closure date
Supervisor must work in a university or research institute
Student or new graduate (<3 months following completion of degree) studying toxicology or pharmacology or where toxicology is a main component of their degree
Research project must have substantial toxicology component
By supervisor on behalf of student by end of March preceding summer
Description of project, including background, aims, methods and training provided
CVs of supervisor and student
Personal statement from student stating reasons for wanting to undertake project countersigned by supervisor
Short reflective account of experience
