Idrija is a small town located 60 km west of Ljubljana and famous for the discovery of mercury in 1493. Part of the old mine can still be visited today, and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage “Historic Mercury Extraction Sites: Almadén and Idrija”. The bus tour will depart from the congress venue, and will provide guidance on the history of Idrija and the impact of its residents on medicine, toxicology, and other natural sciences by prof. Dr. Zvonka Zupanič-Slavec, Professor of History of Medicine. More information will be posted on the congress website or onsite.

In Search of Best Methods

PEPPER, the Public-private platform for the validation of endocrine disruptors characterization methods, is looking for methods to be validated.

PEPPER focuses on test methods that characterise endocrine disrupters substances. Methods allowing the identification of an endocrine mode of action (MoA), an endocrine-related adverse outcome (AO), or linking a MoA to an AO are in the scope of PEPPER.

ASPIS Open Symposium

September 14-15, 2023 at the GR Ljubljana Conference Center

The 3rd ASPIS Open Symposium will follow the 57th Congress of the European Societies of Toxicology, EUROTOX. We will present the latest work of the ASPIS cluster formed by the three Horizon 2020 consortia: ONTOX, PrecisionTox, and RISK-HUNT3R, focusing on the implementation of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for chemical risk assessment. Registration ends August 31, 2023.

The course is organized by the Bulgarian Toxicological Society  with the financial support of EUROTOX and UTOX and the cooperation of the National Centre for Public Health and Analysis and Technical University, Sofia.

The course will provide knowledge and understanding of approaches for toxicological risk assessment in regulatory processes for different categories of chemicals in the light of new alternative approaches in toxicology, useful for individuals who work with problems related to exposure to various chemical substances from various sources – environmental and working environment, food, cosmetics, as well as those who work in regulatory toxicology.

New campaign promotes awareness of plant health in everyday life.

#PlantHealth4Life is a multiannual campaign, designed at the request of the EC and based on an in-depth analysis of perceptions and behaviours linked to plant health across the EU. This year, the campaign targets 12 countries: Belgium, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Slovenia. In addition, 3-D video installations will provide an immersive experience in three of the most active hubs for travelling outside the EU: Amsterdam, Madrid, and Milan.
