BTS/ASCEPT Lectureship– Call for Application

The British Toxicology Society (BTS) is calling for applications for the BTS/ASCEPT Lectureship Award for 2018. This is awarded to a member of the BTS who has made a contribution to the development of toxicology and/or pharmacology in the UK.

The lectureship is run together with the Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists (ASCEPT) and the successful nominee will be funded to travel to the ASCEPT Annual conference to present a BTS Lecture. In addition to this, they will also have the opportunity to visit a number of Universities and Institutions and (where appropriate) present a lecture. This lectureship offers a unique opportunity to visit a number of institutions and to form new collaborations.

Requirements
Membership of the British Toxicology Society (BTS) is a prerequisite for application for this lectureship. Candidates must be nominated and seconded by 2 full members of the BTS. Please ensure that you have their permission for BTS to contact them for this purpose.

Judgement criteria
The award is made on the basis of the quality of the candidate’s published work and a supporting statement from the applicant. These applications will be judged by the Nomination Subcommittee of the BTS

Submission deadline
Applicants must provide the following by 19th August 2018 by email to the BTS Secretariat: secretariat@thebts.org who will pass the applications to the Chair of the Nominations Subcommittee for consideration.

  1. A two to four page (A4) summary describing the candidate’s major research achievements and its significance.
    2. A full curriculum vitae of the candidate.
    3. The candidate’s list of refereed publications.


Meeting presentation

The recipient will be invited to deliver a special lecture during the Annual Scientific Meeting of ASCEPT in the year of the Award. The meeting is scheduled for 27-30 November 2018 in Adelaide [https://www.asceptasm.com]. The recipient will also need to present up to 3 lectures that can be delivered at the hosting institutions. The host institution will chose one lecture from out of the three that they wish to be presented.

Travel expenses
The cost of travel and expenses up to the value of £2000.00 will be paid by the BTS. The Secretariat will liaise with the recipient of the award regarding travel and payment
