British Toxicology Society (BTS) and Cambridge Alliance on Medicines Safety (CAMS) – Safety of Advanced Therapeutics Cam NTF event
BTS Ambassadors Eleanor McRae, Sarah Mitchell, Steph Gresham and Kirsti Hornigold co-hosted the Cambridge New Therapeutics Forum (Cam NFT) event on the Safety of Advanced Therapeutics with Marion MacFarlane from the Cambridge Alliance on Medicines Safety (CAMS). The event was held at Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre in Cambridge on Wednesday 18th March 2026.
The event brought together leading industry and academic experts to explore challenges, innovations, and regulatory perspectives across a broad range of new modalities. The safety of oligonucleotide therapeutics, protein degraders and bispecific T cell engagers was discussed, along with the challenges around developing novel CAR T cell therapeutics. Early career researchers working at the cross section of academia and industry were able to showcase their work and highlight the exciting potential of such collaborative work. The session inspired a high level of engagement from the audience.
This event also provided an important opportunity for a new audience to hear about the BTS and CAMS and allowed both organisations to highlight the training opportunities available such as the PATDD course and the BTS skills gap modules.
The evening concluded with a networking drinks reception providing an opportunity to connect with local colleagues working across similar areas and lively discussions of the topics presented continued well into the evening.
Thanks to the speakers Joel Parry, Niall Buckley, Roja Gandhimathi, Louise Thompson, Sophie Regan and Maike de la Roche, everyone involved in organising the event and all participants for their engagement to make the event a success. Finally, a huge thank you to both the BTS and CAMS for their kind sponsorship, the success of this event highlights the value of holding these local networking meetings.
