President’s Newsletter: November 2023

Dear BTS Member

In this President’s message I should like to take this opportunity to draw you attention to the closing date for applications for the President’s Award; to provide some information on the 2024 BTS Annual Congress and also on membership renewals.

President’s Award. The purpose of this award is to recognise a BTS member who has made a significant contribution to the Society. Full details of this award are available >Here on the BTS Website. Please note that the final closing date for applications this year is 1st December 2023. The winner will be invited to attend the 2024 Annual Congress from 15th -17th April in Liverpool free of charge, with their travel expenses and accommodation costs covered according to current BTS guidelines.

BTS Annual Congress 2024. Following the success of  the 2023 Annual Congress, the 2024 Annual Congress will be held from Monday 15th  to Wednesday 17th April 2024 at The Spine, Liverpool. The programme for the 2024 Annual Congress will include a Continuing Education Programme session, eight symposia, plenary, hot topic and BTS award lectures, BTS Speciality Section round table discussion sessions and poster and oral communications. Further information including a programme and registration information will soon be available on the BTS website so do keep an eye on the website. I hope to see many BTS members at the 2024 Annual Congress.

Membership renewals. As we approach the end of 2023 you will be receiving your membership renewal letters which will confirm that for 2024 there will be no increase in membership fees, with fees being retained at 2023 levels. I do hope that you consider membership of the BTS as good value for money. Being a member of the British Toxicology Society (BTS) brings with it a number of benefits and more information on the benefits available to our members can be found >Here.

Finally, as in my previous President’s messages I want to highlight that the BTS Executive Committee and its subcommittees are here to serve the membership and are always open to receiving your suggestions on how we can best serve our members; including topics for either scientific meetings or training opportunities. If you have any suggestions, please do get in touch with me via the Secretariat: bts@execbs.com.

Best wishes

Brian
