President’s Newsletter Number 4: April 2021

Dear Colleagues

As we enter Q2 of 2021 we will all have something to look forward to over the next few months with the continued lifting of restrictions as we travel along the PM’s roadmap. I know I am.

I wanted to send a reminder that the countdown has begun to the start of our 2021 Annual Congress which will be held from the 12th-15th April 2021.The programme, and how to register, can be found here

The Congress always brings together individuals from academia, industry, the NHS, regulatory science, and governmental agencies with a shared interest, enthusiasm and passion for the science and practice of toxicology. It offers a great opportunity to virtually meet and network with colleagues, industry representatives, and peers across the spectrum of experience and interests within the field of toxicology. The scientific programme is excellent and is a testimony to the hard work of the Scientific Subcommittee.

The Continuous Education Programme (CEP) which is organised by the Education, Training and Careers Development Subcommittee (ETCD) is “COVID-19 repurposing therapies and vaccines: The evolution of rapid toxicological assessment and regulation”. Again, testimony of the work undertaken by the ETCD to provide a topical subject to explore. The CEP will precede the main Congress on the morning of Monday 12th April. The Annual General Meeting, which is open to all members, will be on the afternoon of the 12th April. I look forward to seeing you at the AGM.

I would also like to thank our secretariat Executive Business Support Ltd and, in particular, Steve Hewitt and his team for the work being undertaken behind the scenes to ensure that the virtual platform we will be using to host the Congress is fully operational for next week.

Of course, if you have anything you would like me to promote in my next Newsletter, which will be in May, please send the item to [email protected].

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible online next week.

Your sincerely

Professor Shirley Price, President of the BTS
