Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) represents lifelong learning, enabling us to maintain and update our knowledge base and professional skills regularly. Throughout our professional career, CPD increases job satisfaction and improves our prospects for advancement in our chosen specialty. CPD can involve specific training and may lead to additional qualifications, but really means keeping abreast of the latest developments by attending lectures, seminars and conferences, or by distance learning. In addition to specialist scientific training, CPD also includes the building of managerial and organisational competencies.

Several CPD schemes exist, including those run by the Royal College of Pathologists, Royal College of Physicians and the Royal Society of Biology. Each of these organisations require registration to their websites to utilise their CPD scheme, however, access to the Royal Society of Biology’s CPD can also be achieved through registration with the UK Register of Toxicology.

Visiting our list of toxicology events, including the BTS Annual Congress, will show you possible CPD opportunities.
